International Lyceum Club, meeting at the Manoir du Vaumadeuc

The cultural season began the Manoir de Vaumadeuc. Not content to organize several recitals of classical music, Mr. and Mrs. O’Neill welcomed Friday, as every four years,the annual meeting of the International Lyceum Club. The outgoing president, RobertAnnette, has officially passed the baton to his successor, Daniele Menard. TheInternational Lyceum Club has existed for over a century. It was created in 1903 in London, by Constance Smedley, for working women may have something to talkoutside the scope of their professional practices. The immediate success of his club isquickly emulated (in Berlin, in 1905 at Paris in 1906, etc..). It now has over 1000members spread over three continents (Europe, America, Oceania).

An international competition of children’s stories

The Lyceum Club? essentially female? mainly deals with cultural sponsorship,organizing an annual national competition and, every two years, an international competition. These competitions are often act as springboards for their participants, juries being composed of recognized artists. Themes vary from lamusique the designof stained glass and photography. In 2012, for example, it will focus on children’s stories. The Lyceum Club International is also in the humanitarian field, national or international.
